The Blissetts First Gig of 2011

Our first gig of 2011 will take place at Shades Social Club in Hertford on Saturday 5th February. This is the re-arranged date to make up for the one that was snowed off in December. Same bill and details as before so have a butchers at the live page or the flyer further down the page.

The Blissetts On YouTube

We've finally got our video page up and running and cunningly called it The BBC - The Blissetts Broadcasting Communications. There are a few videos from the UK Subs gig (cheers Sally!) back in November and a couple of oldies. So watch 'em here if you can't be bothered to go to YouTube. (Posted 17/1/11)

Thanks For The Support

Cheers to everyone that has supported us throughout 2010, especially Michele, Mandy, Amanda, Gloria, Brain, Bob the Roadie, Kev Saunders and the Westmill bods,, Dan Impossible and the crew at the ICM, Sally and Keith Newhouse, Carol Walker, Bowsey, Sparky @ Monkeyboy, Chris @ Hertford Corn Exchange, Mungo, Mark Astronaut, Watford Jon, Matt and the Bleach Boys, Alex and Oiz II Men, Charlie and the UK Subs, Eagle and the Punk 4 the Homeless Crew, London, The Trash, Brocker, Joon and The Crush and all the other bands we've played with that we've borrowed/leant gear to. Also as ever, thanks to Jason, Brendan and the Blaggers ITA for the inspiration. Cheers! - The Blissetts.

Sorry For The Very Late Gig Cancellation

As you probably know, our third attempt this year at playing Shades in Hertford fell victim to the snow on Saturday. The Sound man and PA System were snowed in and members of all three bands booked to appear were also either snowed in or snow bound (bigup to everyone stranded with me on the A41). The Promoter took the decision to cancel the gig on Saturday afternoon. This gig will be re-arranged for early 2011.

Last Gig Of 2010 / First Gig Of 2011

Following our storming set as support to the UK Subs, The Blissetts return for one last gig of 2010. At the third attempt, we will be playing at Shades Social Club in Hertford on Saturday 18th December.

For full details either look at the flyer on the left or go to the live page. We intend to do the full set including the long lost 'American Empire' which I think we've played only once this year. It's gonna be a great night, cheap booze, punk rock and a nude Kev Saunders! Silly hats optional. The new CD will also be available so snap one up whilst you can 'cos they're selling like hot cakes.

Out first gig of 2011 takes place courtesy of our mate Mungo at The Green Room in Welwyn on Friday 25th February. Full line up TBC.

New Videos On YouTube

We have live videos of Borstal Breakout, Scrapheap, Liars and newie Stabbed In The Back on YouTube and Facebook. (Posted by Paul 13/12/10)

"The Blissetts were fucking amazing, the best band to support us on this tour" Charlie Harper, UK Subs.

Nuff said.

Cheers to everyone that supported us at the Hertford Corn Exchange. Thanks to Chris for giving us the opportunity and Jamie (Subs drummer) for letting us use his kit. Cheers!

New CD Single Now Available

Our 2 previously 'download only' singles 'The Death Of Freedom' and 'Liars, Cheats, Thieves And Politicians' are now available on CD. Don't be fooled by the photo of our mate 'V' in the photo, both tracks are on the same CD with the exclusive artwork, not available with the downloads, printed on each side. The cover folds out with full lyrics and weblinks to worthwhile causes. We have taken care of every aspect of this release, from the design right through to the printing so it's 100% proper DIY.

The CD is yours for £2, or £3 (inc P&P) if you want it posted to you. Drop us an email and we'll sort you one out. The CD is also available at gigs, so come and pick one up at the UK Subs gig!

The Blissetts To Support The UK Subs!

We have been confirmed as the support act for punk legends the UK Subs at the Hertford Corn Exchange on Friday 19th November 2010. We bagged the slot following our performance at the Kev-Aid gig in September.

For full details on how to get tickets go to the live page or just read the flyer on the left!

Action Aid/Bollocks To Poverty Benefit CD Out Now!

We now have copies of the ICM/Side-Effect Records Charity CD 'Don't Just Do Something, Stand There' for sale. £5 gets you a double CD featuring 28 bands including our track 'Dumped On The Scrapheap'. Drop us an email and we'll sort you one out.

WESTMILL BENEFIT GIG

The Blissetts are playing at a Westmill Farm Festival benefit gig at Hertford Corn Exchange on Friday 17th September. This is in aid of Westmill promoter Kev Saunders who due to the severely bad weather during the festival now finds himself quite a few several thousand pounds out of pocket. Kev is one of only a handfull of promoters who will give us the time of day and actually put us on, so we're giving him our full support. Full details on the live page.

SAY 'BOLLOCKS TO POVERTY' ON 17th SEPTEMBER

The 'Bollocks To Poverty' compilation CD from the ICM is due for release on Friday 17th September. A special release party is being held on the same day at The Gaff down in Brixton. We can't go due to the Westmill Benefit gig, but if you want to go, give us a shout and we'll get you on the list as it's an 'invite only' event. Full details of how you can get your hands on the CD as soon as we get it.

BACK IN WATFORD

The Blissetts return to Watford for another gig at The Flag on Saturday 21st August. We will be supporting the mighty LONDON along with the Ten 'O' Sevens and Loudmouth Eddy also on the bill. This gig has been organised by the top folk at the Independent Creative Movement. It's £4 on the door, 8pm kick off. Loadsa parking around the back as usual.

BOLLOCKS TO POVERTY CD

The Blissetts song 'Dumped On The Scrapheap' will appear on the new 'Bollocks To Poverty' CD from the Independent Creative Movement. The benefit CD for poor folk also features OIZ II MEN, Freedom Faction, The Sterilizers, The Jack Brews and a shit load of other bands. It's a double CD and will cost you the cheapo sum of £5. We hope to have a release date soon.

RE-ARRANGED HERTFORD DATE

Our recently cancelled gig at Shades in Hertford has been re-arranged for Saturday 16th October. It's an ALL AGES gig

The Blissetts To Hit Westmill

We are confirmed to play the Westmill Farm Festival on Friday 13th August 2010. We will be appearing on the main stage with our stage time still to be confirmed. There are over 50 other bands also playing the festival situated just outside of Ware, Hertfordshire.

Highlights include us, obviously, The Trash - featuring half of The Blissetts, Dregs Of Society, Distorded Breed, Joan Ov Arc, Koopa and ex-Cock Sparrer guitarist Gary Lammin. The Saturday is much more family orientated but it's well worth checking out Divided Opinions and the seriously weird Beat Poet Experience.

Tickets are £8 for the Friday, £15 for Saturday or £37 for both days plus 2 nights camping including breakfast! now you don't get that at Glastonbury unless you're frequenting the Hari Krishna tent!

This festival is all about the local community which we're seriously keen on promoting, so come and have a great time at a festival that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to get into.

Apologies

Sorry for the late cancellation of our gig at Shades in Hertford on Saturday 17th July 2010. This is all down to the promoter and nothing to do with us. It was going to be our Westmill warm up gig, oh well sometimes that's how it goes.

The Blissetts Land Another Gig At The Green Room

We'll be back at The Green Room in Welwyn Garden City on Saturday 18th September 2010. This will be our 3rd gig there this year, we love playing there and we're happy that they keep having us back! Full line up is still to be confirmed. (Posted by Paul 23/7/10)

The Death Of Freedom OUT NOW!

The Blissetts new single, anti fascist/big brother rant 'The Death Of Freedom' is now available to download. You can get it for 79p from CD Baby (priced as 0.99$), iTunes, Amazon and believe it or not, the entertainment section at Tesco Direct. Well they say every little helps. We are working on a proper CD release which would be a double @ side with previous single 'Liars, Cheats, Thieves And Politicians'. 'Liars' is also available to download from the same online places barring Amazon due to its explicit content. Apparently calling a politician a 'war mongering gobshite' is offensive!

Westmill Farm Festival

We are confirmed to play this year's Westmill Farm Festival on Friday 13th August. Put it in your diary. Full details soon. (Posted by Paul 24/6/10)

The Blissetts Death Of Freedom single cover

We finally got to release The Blissetts first new recording in 5 years on Election Day 2010

Liars, Cheats, Thieves And Politicians is now available to download from www.cdbaby.com. In a few weeks time you will also be able to get it from the likes of iTunes and Amazon, it just takes a while to filter through.

The flipside 'The Death Of Freedom' will be available once I complete the artwork, so hopefully around the middle of next week.

Both tracks will also be made available on CD which you will be able to get directly from this website

Single Release Night @ The Flag!

We gear up for the release of our new single 'Liars, Cheats, Thieves And Politicians' with a headline appearance at The Flag in Watford this Saturday 24th April. Full details on the live page.

Also on the bill are fellow punk nutjobs The Bleach Boys and The Crush, both bands shared a stage with us at the Green Room back in February. Making a special appearance are fellow Watford loons Jodorowsky's Ape.

The gig only costs £3 on the door and this line up is well worth coughing up for! Doors open at 8pm and the Ape take to the stage first at 8.45pm

We're currently sorting artwork and completing the finer details for the release of 'Liars' and we will hopefully have it all ready for the intended release date of Monday 26th April.

However there is still a hell of a lot of stuff for me to sort out so don't be suprised if it's a few days late.

Studio Update And New Tracks Up On Myspace!

We had a blast at Soundarc Studio over in Shefford. We managed to record 6 tracks in all. We recorded the 'Liars' single and it's b-side 'The Death Of Freedom' as well as newie 'Dumped On The Scrapheap' which has been earmarked for a compilation CD. We also banged out live favorites 'Streets Of Shame', 'Nothing To Lose (But Our Chains)' and 'The God Delusion' which we are lining up for a CD EP in the Summer of 2010.

We've posted 'The Death Of Freedom', 'Scrapheap' and 'the God Delusion' on our Myspace page so go and check 'em out! (Posted by Paul 22/4/10)

New Single!! Gigs!! Vote 'None Of The Above' Campaign!!

We are heading into Soundarc Studio this weekend to record our new single 'Liars, Cheats, Thieves and Politicians' to coincide with the General Election. It has the provisional release date of 26th April 2010 which is the same week as the Election. The single will be available to download only (for the moment) from iTunes. A proper CD is planned for a later date. We will also be recording 'The Death Of Freedom' which will in effect be the B-side. Both songs make valid political points regarding not only the Election (Liars, Cheats....) but also about the rise of the Nazi BNP (Death Of Freedom), they may well try to pass themselves off as a legitimate political party but we can see through that bollocks.

This will be our first recorded material since the Destruction Day CD back in 2005. If the release of 'Liars' goes to plan then we will hopefully get round to recording either another single or a 4-track EP during the Summer.

Gigs

We're playing at The Green Room, Welwyn GC on Friday 16th April and we'll be holding a Single Release Party at The Flag in Watford on Saturday 24th April. This is on the back of 2 very well received gigs that we've done at The Green Room back in February with The Bleach Boys and the Fiddler's Elbow in London in March. Special thanks to everyone who came to the London gig, what looked like a shit night turned out pretty damn good!

Full details of both gigs can be found on the Live page. You can download a flyer for The Green Room gig and get yourself a quid off. Find the flyer on our Myspace, Punk Rockers or the Facebook page.

Vote 'None Of The Above' Campaign

Yes folks, we have come up with the Vote 'None of The Above' Campaign. To tie in with the release of the single, we have also started an online petition to get the Government to include the option to vote for 'None Of The Above' on all UK ballot papers. The way we see it, the current crop of MP's are an absolute joke and why on earth should we be expected to vote for them in the coming Election when they are NOT up to the job? This country will not be a true democracy until we get this option. Our votes should count, even if they're not for any Political Party!

Please sign the online petition and join the Facebook group. The details of our official press release is posted below along with the link you need for the petition. Join the Facebook group by clicking the banner at the top of this page or by clicking here. Please pass the links on to everyone you know and encourage them to do the same. We can't sit back and let the powers-that-be continue to get away with it and walk all over us

APATHY IS NOT AN OPTION. WE WILL NOT PUT UP AND SHUT UP.

Here's the press release in full:

THE BLISSETTS – Vote ‘None Of The Above’ Campaign

Are you happy with the state of British Politics?

If not: Please do the following –

1. Sign the ‘None of the Above’ petition at http://www.gopetition.co.uk/online/35232.html
2. Download The Blissetts single ‘Liars, Cheats, Thieves and Politicians’ to make it No1 in the UK Charts at the time of the General Election
3. Pass this email on to everyone you know and encourage them to do the same

This campaign is being run by Paul, Ed, Arup and Ajay – Collectively known as punk band THE BLISSETTS.

The ‘VOTE NONE OF THE ABOVE’ Campaign

Some wise guy once came out with the old adage ‘If voting changed anything, they’d ban it’. This is our chance to put it to the test.

We are proposing that an extra box be included on voting slips with the option to vote for ‘None of the above’. If you have no faith in any of the standing candidates, why should you vote for the lesser evil? Vote ‘None Of The Above!’ Should ‘None of the above’ win in any area, the other standing parties will have to take a long hard look at themselves and choose more responsible candidates.

‘None Of The Above’ also works as a protest vote, allowing people to write off the candidates in their area without feeling that they have to vote for parties like the BNP.

The Labour Party has said it will take a look at changing the current UK voting system should they be re-elected, Nick Clegg of the Liberal Democrats has said the same, we do not know if this is something the Conservatives would also do, as they haven’t replied to our emails yet. Basically we live in a two party state and are left to vote for either the devil, or Satan. The Media holds too much sway with Labour and the Tories so any other party really doesn’t stand a chance. The Media have also just agreed televised debates with the Party leaders so you can watch them promise to deliver all those things they have no intention of delivering.

The approaching General Election will show an all time low in the faith of British politics and quite rightly so. If as predicted, there is a low turn out on polling day, it will only be a matter of time before voting is made compulsory. People are keen to remind us that our grandparents fought to keep our country free from Nazi rule, but is it fair to impose compulsory voting? As surely our grandparents fought for our right to abstain also? Sadly any incoming political party is likely to impose compulsory voting, if for any other reason than making themselves look better on polling day. Well, if they did impose it, having a box marked ‘None of the above’ would take care of that!

THE PETITION

We will be running a petition on the Gopetition website, we will put links to it via our website, our mailing list and our profiles at both www.punkrockers.com/theblissetts and www.myspace.com/theblissetts. We need as many people to sign it as possible. We will be running the main campaign via our Facebook account as it is by far the biggest social networking site.

THE BLISSETTS

The Blissetts are an anti-political punk band. We do not believe in or support any of the UK political parties. We have no affiliation to any political party or organisation.

We are normal hard working blokes who are sick of seeing our country and its inhabitants dragged through the mud or taken for a ride. We have had enough of working our fingers to the bone just to make ends meet, while those in authority continue to live the high life at our expense and pander to big business and Multi-National Corporations.

THE SINGLE – Liars, Cheats, Thieves and Politicians

We intend to release our new single ‘Liars Cheats, Thieves and Politicians’ two weeks before the UK General Election which we believe is to be held on Thursday 6th May 2010.

We are releasing this song to show the powers that be our utter contempt for them and their followers, the way that they have failed to tackle the Expenses scandal, the Recession and the illegal war in Iraq. The out-going Labour Party are as much of a joke as the incoming tally-ho hooray Henries of the incoming Conservative Party. People seem to have very short memories where that lot are concerned. We have worked and got nothing from Labour, we’ll get even less from the Tories.

The Single will be available via digital download only, outlets to be confirmed, from Monday 26th April. We will be holding a single release party at The Flag in Watford on Saturday 24th April 2010. If all goes to plan and our campaign is a success, we will be Number 1 in the UK charts the following week when the General Election is held.

The reason for the song only being available via download is so as many people can find it and download it as quickly as possible. We are not signed to a record label, so we neither have the time or the money to press CDs and nor do we have any kind of distribution deal with regard to getting a CD into the shops; we doubt that they would stock it anyway.

We have posted a rehearsal recording of the song on our webpage at www.punkrockers.com/theblissetts Please note that this is NOT the version we will be releasing as the single, it is for preview purposes only.

We will NOT at any point, post the song on our Myspace page. This is due to Myspace now being owned by Sky Media Tycoon and supporter of the Conservative Party, Rupert Murdoch. We have no desire to put money in his pocket by directing our fans to mindlessly gawp at all of the advertising on Myspace. We signed up to Myspace long before Murdoch’s takeover and after much deliberation as to whether to delete the account ourselves, we have come to the conclusion that Myspace is a necessary evil for a band in our position.

Aim / The Message

If we can get a huge campaign going on Facebook, several million signatures on the petition and The Blissetts to the top of the charts on polling day, we will be delivering an almighty kick up the backside to British politics.
The message is - We will not go away and we will not be ignored, after all, you created this mess in the first place. We want change and we want it now. Ignore us at your peril.

That's it kids, now go and get involved!!!!!!!!!
