Champions Bar Gig Cancelled

Our inglorious homecoming gig at Champions Bar in Watford on Saturday 28th November has been CANCELLED. This is for once, not our fault, but due to the action of the Pubs owners. They have decided that they no longer want live music in their pub, so it will revert back to the original Saturday night format when no bugger goes in there. It's a shame because we would have packed out their poxy little boozer. Arup was going to do a set of his solo material and then we were going to play our full set with a few old tracks thrown in. I've tried to get us on the bill for The Flag up the road on the same night but Monkeyboy have a full line up and can't fit us in. I have also looked at hiring a venue, but with everyone charging silly money in the run up to Christmas, sadly that's a no-no too. Unless an offer comes up in the next 2 weeks or so, it looks like our recent gig in Camden will be the last Blissetts gig of 2009. However we are currently booking gigs for 2010 and have a couple of confirmed dates already, full details soon. (Posted by Paul 17/11/09)

Cheers to everyone that made the trip down to the Bridgehouse 2. Your support is much appreciated.

The Blissetts Return To London

After delivering a storming set at the Sugar Hut in Hertford last month, we finally make our long awaited return to London for our first gig in the big smoke since December 2005!!.

We play the legendary Bridgehouse 2 venue in Canning Town, East london on Thursday 15th October. This is a proper music venue, so we intend to go out and give it some bollocks, plus it's also being recorded for a live DVD.

Anyone over the age of 14 can get into the Bridgehouse 2 and we should be able to do our whole set, including all the new stuff that went down well at the Sugar Hut.

We also have 2 more dates confirmed, check 'em out on the live page. More details on them nearer the time. Cheers to everyone who made the trip to Hertford, and to Kev for putting us on.

We've got footage from the Hertford gig of The Devil's Garden, The God Delusion and Borstal Breakout up on YouTube and Facebook. We'll have our own video channel up on this website when I find the time to get round to doing it. (Posted by Paul 8/10/09)

The Blissetts Live X Sugarhut, Hertford, Wednesday 16th Septwmber

And It's About Time!

We make our live return on Wednesday 16th September at Sugar Rox @ Sugarhut, Hertford. At the third attempt this year, this will be the first appearance of the new line up. We fully intend to do this gig come rain, snow, floods, apocalypse etc... It has come to our attention that there is free booze on offer too, so sod what the Govt tell you about binge drinking, maybe when they show the slightest interest in listening to the public, then maybe we might give a monkey's (but don't bet on it).

On the night we will be on first, however, we should be able to do the whole set which includes the new songs 'Streets of Shame', 'Liars, Cheats, Thieves and Politicians', 'Dumped on the Scrapheap' and 'The Devil's Garden' as well as all yer favourite Blissetts tunes. Barring that, we'll do a 45 minute version of American Empire. Full details on the live page.

As it's a punk night, also on the bill are Ed and Arup's other band The Trash, the best Clash tribute band in the UK and Hertford ska punk/loons The Dregs of Society. See you down the front! (Posted by Paul 29/8/09)

Ware Gig Cancelled

We have taken the decision to pull out of the gig at Ware Football Club on 23rd July as Arup's hand still hasn't healed. For those that don't know, Arup suffered a horrific injury to one of his widdling fingers courtesy of a hedge trimmer back in May. Arup's hand has healed enough for him to resume playing the guitar, however he still feels a fair amount of pain and we think it may be better for him to rest his hand for another 6 weeks or so. We are looking at re-arranging the gig for September/October.

We were really looking forward to the Ware gig as we intended to play all of our new material. Just before Arup's injury, we had begun work on a new song called 'Streets Of Shame' which has got balls as big as beer barrells. Luckily we were sensible enough to record it during practice, so when we do start practicing again we should be able to pick up where we left off.

Lyrics Page Up

I have finally got round to posting the 'Lyrics' page up onto the website so check it out. Next up is the Video page and I intend to update the Links page. The page includes all lyrics to the current set as well as lyrics to the stuff we don't play anymore.

The Blissetts Live Video's On YouTube, Myspace And Facebook

I have posted decent live video's of The Blissetts performing Destruction Day v2.0 and The God Delusion onto our Myspace page and also onto YouTube. I have also created a page for The Blissetts on Facebook. Both video's were recorded at The Flag back in April 2008. (All Posted by Paul 10/7/09)

Ajay Update

As you probably know, we had to pull out of the Monkeyboy Promotions gig at the last minute. Drummer Ajay was initially diagnosed with glandular fever and this was confirmed following blood tests a few days later. Ajay actually STILL wanted to do the gig but we decided we had to put his health first and pulled out. We have since found out that had he of done the gig, there's a chance he could have suffered a ruptured spleen. Although our decision caused the promoter a lot of grief, we know we had made the right decision. (Posted by Paul 17/3/09)

The Blissetts Pull Out Of Gig At The Flag

We have had to cancel our appearance at The Flag tonight as drummer Ajay has come down with glandular fever. Sorry for the inconveniences caused at this late stage to everybody and also to Monkeyboy Promotions. The event is still going ahead with the other bands still set to play so why not go down and have a beer anyway? (Posted by paul 28/2/09)

The Blissetts - Back On The Streets!

After having to pretty much write off the second half of 2008 gig wise, The Blissetts return to headline The Flag in Watford on Saturday 28th February 2009. Full details on the Live page.

We started 2008 well, headlining the Walkabout, making the Battle of the Bands semi final and doing a couple of gigs with The Pistols. Chunky and Chris both left the band oweing to commitment issues. We recruited Ed on bass, who had played with us before, standing in for Chunky at our Brighton gig in December '07. I can also announce that Ajay has joined the band full time on drums. Ajay has stood in on numerous occasions when we have been 'between drummers', so he's more than familiar with the material and he just gets better with every passing week.

We have three new songs done and dusted, could possibly be a few more before we hit The Flag again!

All that's left is to say thanks to everyone for supporting us throughout 2008, especially the usual culprits who turn up to our gigs, our long suffering Mrs's, Monkeyboy Promotions, TCCF Promo, the mighty Kev Saunders, Jason from the Blaggers ITA (cheers for the continued support) and Watford Jon from Argy Bargy. Also many thanks to Simon 'Chunky' Parry and Chris Church. (Posted by Paul 4/1/09)
